    Quick question

    Ok so finished up the parts list for my buddy in afhganistan and would like some input.

    He bought a 00 ls1 TA A4 and right now it needs a power steering pump and water pump. We are already ordering some performance parts and have a tuner in mind for the tune. So far here is what we have decided on.

    First off he has already bought a M6 and we plan on swapping that in.
    Going with a full slp (LT) exhaust with most likely the cats taken out (Indiana no smog laws.)
    LS6 intake and
    LS7 clutch kit

    I was going to tell him since we are going to have to get a tune afterwords and we are replacing the water pump I figured that this would also make for a perfect time for a cam upgrade right? Well he plans on down the road to supercharge this car. With that being said what is a cam that is streetable that will work with what we have right now but also with what we are planning on down the road. I really dont see this car ever breaking the 550 hp mark just because its mainly a street car that will see possibly once a week drag strip time. Also the car is about to hit 100k miles... How much would you recommend the timing chain/gears and valve springs be replaced? By the way please chime in if im missing something. Been a long time since I have done a performance build on an engine and I've really only done performance builds on the old school SBC's

    If it's about to hit 100k pull the engine and rebuild it with a cam of your/his choice, double roller timing chain, etc. Then f/i it. There's really no point to add a bunch of go fast goodies to a 100k engine, then have it blow up, if he's wants supercharge it down the road anyways.

    as in complete bottom end rebuild or do you mean just the top end?

    If your buddy wants to supercharge it then yes, i would forge the bottom end. If not, new bearings and top end.

    k, I know he wont let me talk him into rebuilding yet so I guess ill let him hold off for now.
