pushrods ?
Anyone installed these, where can i find some info on the procedure for the install. I saw from the sticky thread that the M6 should get new pushrods and would like to add this upgrade to mine, but once again am pretty much in the dark? This forum has been an incredible source of knowledge for me so far i look forward to learning more,
thanks in advance

1. Remove coilpacks.
2. Remove valvecovers.
3. Remove rocker arms. Make sure you use a 6 sided 8mm socket on them.
4. Pull old pushrods out.
5. Put new ones in. (put oil on them when you first put them in)
6. Put rocker arms back on. Might want to use a tiny amount of thread sealant on the studs...not loctite though.
7. Torque arms to 22 ft/pounds and no more.
8. Put valvecover on.
9. Put coilpack back on.
10. Connect coilpack harness.
11. Enjoy.
7.400" is the length you are looking for.
Make sure you don't miss shift with hardened pushrods though. Asking for trouble.

what does a 7.4000" hardened pushrod do that the stock pushrod does not?, and i have heard of people puting on different valve springs ( stiffer Bee hive shaped ones) can this be done at the same time as the pushrods, and what good does that do? What sort of trouble is it going to cause by mis shifting, I dont ever take mine to the track, just give a show for the occasionally import or new GT mustang that is curious what a fast car looks like. Not very many modded around here, mostly body work.

Why do you want to swap pushrods? If you aren't racing and are not planning on really any performace mods why do you want to swap them?

Thing is without the intention of makin real power you are better offr bending a stock pushrod and having to replace it than you are missing a shift with a hardened pushrod and possibly doing much more damage.

After my cam and moly pushrods were intalled i accidently shifted from third to second but i wasn't racing so it didn't red line just extremely heavy engine braking at about 5k could that bend a pushrod or would you have to redline it on a downshift to bend anything. My car runs fine since doing it i was just wondering if thats possible.

Many many stock LS1's have a bent pushrod in them.
If staying stock...I would replace with a stock GM piece.

how do you know if you have bent a pushrod? Also i plan on modding further, i am starting this week my LT's and True Duals come in wed., and i also have a lid to install. From there i am not sure where i will go but i plan on continuing to upgrade. I guess i just dont understand what a hardened pushrod does for the performance of the engine? Can anyone elaborate on that ?
