PRC Stg 1 LS6 heads and TSP 228R

How well do you think these would perform together. I am dead set on the TSP 228R cam but seen then have a HC package with the stg. 1 ported LS6 heads on the TSP website. I was thinking of buying stg. 2 heads but not dead set on them. How much better is the Ported LS6 head (stg. 1) compared to the stock LS1 head?

I'm by far no expert so this is just opinion. I'll just share with you my decision making process when I picked my stuff out. For ~$150 you can get stage 2.5 5.3L heads that have 2.04 intake valves, 1.575 exhaust, smaller combustion chamber, and prc dual springs which would be a $265 upgrade with the stage 1 heads although you could get away with the 918's. It just seemed that was the best deal for the money and those heads are proven to make good power. Heads are where you'll make your power so buy as much as you can afford. AFR would've been my first choice but I had problems justifying the money.

excellent advise. I have very limited knowledge on the heads. I know a little about cams but I will definitely check out the stg 2.5 5.3 heads, will they make it any harder to tune at all? As compared to any other head?

Lets see I was stock and added a Torquer V2 which is a little bit bigger than the 228. My 98 made around 350 RWHP with the stock heads and later I added a set of TSP PRC Stage 1s and it picked the RWHP up to 400 RWHP so I would have to say that what TSP advertises is correct. You pick up about 50 RWHP going from stock heads to the LS6 Stage 1s. This was also Dynoed before and after because you have to retune the engine to get the A/F ratio back to where it was.

Wow! A V2 on a stock car? Have you since added an LS6 intake or bigger along with free flowing exhaust (Lt's, offroad y etc.)? If so what are your numbers now?

Now when I said it was stock I meant that the MOTOR was stock. I just said my car made 350 RWHP with the TV2 and my stock 98 heads. Just so you know I was running PRC double springs and the heavier duty pushrods. I also had LTs and a catted-Y which help. But I also have an A4 (4L60E) with a 3200 Vigalante which absorbs alot of dyno power when compared with a 6 Speed. Sorry my signature is filled out but for some reason it won't show up when I post, but that wouldn't tell you what I use to run. However I didn't mean to mislead you!~So lets make that a stock 98 LS1 with headers/Catted Y-pipe and TSP TV2 with matching double springs and heavier pushrods put down 350RWHP. Later on we changed the stock 98 heads to a set of PRC LS6 Stage 1 Heads which came with their own set of Double Springs and we reused the pushrods. And it picked up 50 RWHP on the dyno. And with the stage 1s and TV2 the cars best time was a 12.01 at 114mph so it wasn't no snail. What I was trying to show was you can pickup 50rwhp with a set of TSP Stage 1 LS6 heads over your stock heads.
