Black- 1999 WS6 Conv.
Pistons, 10 over, need advice
99 WS6 vert. M6, slp box & K&N, 4:10 auburn possi, Lukes Pro Gold clutch, free mods, flowmaster,
Engine is out and ready to install:
Comp cam 228,228, .588 .588, PRC 2.5 heads, Pacesetter LT & ORY, LS6 intake & ported polished TB, ( all needed suport parts) and a tune.
We found that the cam bearings need to be changed & are debating weather or not to go 10 over on the pistons as well as polish the crank. ( walls look good no burn & still have honing lines at top).
I am in uncharted territory for myself. Do I need to change the pistons and if so..... need advice on which pistons to get and is it necessary on an engine with 110K mile on it. etc.. etc..
thanks as always
Patrick

I would get a bore gauge and remove at least one piston and check for taper. The top will get the least amount of wear. You will get the most at the bottom of the bore. If the heads are still on do a compression and leakdown test.

If you have it apart I would go all forged and go .005 if possible.
