With the engine out of the car its probably 10X easier. How long did it take to remove the engine?

which heads and cam did you go with? Also I just got done installing a bmr k-member. I was amazed over how much more room there is to work in under there. Consider it.

That must be so nice...bastard lol. I thought you had said in an older thread that you purchased some YT roller rockers for the install, or was it an afterthought?

Quick reply. Have you done head work with the motor in the car? I'm about to pull my heads soon and I have to keep the drivetrain in the car! Yikes! Do the head bolts stretch and are only good for one time use, or can you reuse them?

You CAN NOT use the stock Head bolts again. I bought new gm head bolts but should have bought the ARP studs. Well worth it and you don't have to worry about running boost at a latter time. Also the stock head bolts have some factory locktite on them and you have to be sure to clean all the crap out the block so you don't strip out the treads. (another good reason to use the ARP's) If I do this again they will be going in.

This is my first LS1 H&C swap and I couldn't have done it without my friends shop, tools, and expertise. He has done a lot of cars and I am there helping him and learning.

I have done 20 or so Old school SBC and BBC engine builds but this is my first LSX. A little bit of a learning curve but These are really nice to work on (Out of the car of course)

Just keep rubbing it in lol. I figured I'd have to get new bolts...And the ARP studs, they're not just bolts are they? I've seen studs on older SBC's but I know the lsx heads are aligned with little dowels. With the ARP kit, do you have a nut or something to cap off the studs...

I'm gonna at least have air tools available, so with some swivels and extensions (and of course penetrating oil) I'm pretty confident in my ability to get the heads off.

New spec 4 clutch/billit flywheel, slave, and tranny installed. Drill mod is done. The complete motor assembly is now back in the car. We will finish tomorrow night and fire it up on tuesday (I forgot to order the egr and air block off plates and they wont be here till tuesday). More pics to follow.

Looks as though you never SeaFoamed it due to the massive build up of shit in the intake runners...........

I also suggest you paint the intake black for a few benefits. And I would put a nice ring of Ultra Cooper around the ports of the header gaskets now!

Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!
