Patriot or Edelbrock
Given the choice, which heads would you choose??
And why? Can't just say one sucks and the other doesn't without reason
Any dyno numbers to compare both?

I know for one Edelbrock doesn't make Crap and I've heard of several people making good power off of Patriots. So your wallet might be making your choice for you.Craig

I've kind of beat it up here on this site... Ya know it's odd too, out of all of the LSx sites, this one is the ONLY one that carries so much love for patriot heads.
I don't like them because I have seen their mediocre results first hand. It's true, about 1 out of 5 sets makes some power, but for the most part, budget heads make budget power. One of the first cars I worked with them on was an 04 Z06 that made a whopping 3rwhp after taking off his OEM 243s for some "stg. 2 LS6" patriot heads. Another 224 cammed & boltons car picked up only 10rwhp. The next 3 boltons/cam/patriot headed cars (all f-bodies) that couldn't break the 400rwhp mark, and they were ALL 6-speed cars with 10-bolt rears. For all of those failures, a single set on an 02 TA with LTs/ORY and boltons and a 224/228 cam made 427rwhp. Those were good numbers, the rest were not.
The reason I don't like them is that the majority of the sets I have tuned have made much less than the owners anticipated and once or twice even left them doubting me... The very first set I tuned came back 5 months later and asked me to reload his file. He took his car to another tuner after me and it made +/- a few, the same thing on another dynojet224, but his street manners were ruined, the car bucked like mad. The guy was very humble and apologetic even, so I just loaded him back up. I felt bad for him, which is why I warn others about them. If you are gonna get ported OEM castings, TEA, PRC, and MTI's worked castings have always done very well and they aren't that much more.
If you are gonna plunk change on Edelbrocks, why not AFR or TFS? Has anyone even seen any Edelbrock LS1 dyno sheets?

with those heads and my 224 cam I made 405. So I guess you're saying they are hit and miss with quality.

How about these??
I see the last line says "race only" ???? So are these more high rpm/ low torque kinda thing?

You are an A4 so here's one for you; a black 02SS I tuned not long ago made 401/434 on a dynojet224 with a yank 3800, g5x1 cam on a 112LSA, STOCK heads and a Fast 90, and ran some 11.3x's with it too. With a good set of heads his car will run 10s.
I can go over to another LS1 site and link you to half dozen easy to find dyno threads where people had much less than stellar results with those heads. I'm sorry that you don't like to hear that, but people need to know all of the facts before spending their $$.

personally i have had nothing shy of a great experience with my patriot heads and the rest of my setup as a whole. i bought my patriots brand new off a member of this sight for $900 bucks. though my numbers arent 'typical' in regards to the nature of my mods, the proof is there...
Frost and I have exhausted each other over this, but we have come to the agreement that they 'could' be hit and miss with 'some' applications...
i cant speak about Edlebrock heads, as i dont personally know anyone who runs them. to the OP, do your research and figure out what your goals are with your car and then decide on your own if dropping $1000 or more for heads that might give you 5rwhp more is worth it, because there are people out there who have used high dollar heads and have experienced the same 'lack of gains' (5-10rwhp gains over thier previous setup) as those with budget heads...
it boils down to this: poor gains after installing any aftermarket heads will leave a bitter taste in one's mouth...2000 SS - The Wicked Witch: °°Cammed 'n Slammed°° 458rwhp/410rwtq
