I use Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30 weight. A lot of people on here also use Amsoil.

No, you will not damage the engine.

You can switch back & forth or mix them if you want. It will not damage the engine.

I've had great results with Castrol 0-30 from Germany. You can get it at AutoZone. It's about $7.50 per qt. in Tx.

I use nothing but synthetic oil. I have no problems and the motor runs smoother with synthetic IMO

I prefer Syn. Reg. oil if fine to if you are driving a lot. And it's cheaper and the technology is way better than some of the syn for years past. I use Valvoline in my other vehicles. Using reg oil give you a chance to get all of the dirt and crap out of the motor more often. Yes syn will last longer but do you really want all of that stuff to stay in you motor. I use syn because my car gets driven anywhere from 800-1500 miles a year. I need the protection at start up after sitting for a while. Reg oil will also quiet the valve train. Don't know why. It just does. The Castrol Syn 0-30 does too. All Mobile1, even the blends, make the valve train louder. Just an OCD pet peeve. If it dosen't bother you then screw it. Haven't used Redline or Amsoil.

Every now and then, run Havoline. From what I have seen it has great detergent properties. Good to clean everything out.

How does regular oil quite the valve train? I figured synthetic would do that from the extra lubrication it offers. Also to clean your motor I should use regular oil instead of synthetic. I drive about 200 miles a day for 5 days out of the week so I thought synthetic would be a better choice for protection. I still change my oil every 3,000 miles though

I use Mobile 1 10W-30 synthetic. I have used Royal Purple and castrol synthetics before, but kept going back to Mobile 1. You really can't go wrong when it comes to Mobile 1, Amsoil, Royal Purple, Castrol. Just stick with name brands basically no Wal-Mart brands. And even with fully synthetics I would suggest sticking with the 3,000 mile or 3 month rule.

I'm actually running royal purple now but people on here say it's really bad oil. I'm going with pennzoil platinum or back to mobile-1

I am no expert but I have to think that has to do with the way the molecules are. I Have you ever noticed how thin an watery syn feels. Reg oil feels thicker across all of the weights. I guess there is just a littler extra cushion with it.

Oil formulas change all the time. The last time I checked, Havoline had the best detergent properties. Even over some syns. It may be different now. #k marker is a good one to keep. Reg oils will go longer but its best to get the trash our as soon as you can.

I have seen the RP demonstrations and it does work. For a time. It breaks down half way through its lifecycle.

UOA's have shown Royal Purple to not be as good as it used to be.

Yeah, I'm never using it again and at almost 8.00 dollars a quart I don't think I will miss it. I'm actually changing the oil in a day or so because I just put royal purple in a week ago and I just don't trust it. Any advice as to cleaning the motor? Not sure if I have to get all the royal purple residue out

Lots of people use sea foam. I've never personally used it. I'd say you're fine just using different oil.
