I got some stuff in a can, its a parts cleaner with a basket that drops in. I would have to go to the shop to remember the name but it is similar to what you are talking about. I put some rods and pistons in it for a day and they came out looking new. It took the carbon off I couldnt scrap.

lol. It actually came in 200lbs under stock, @ around 2800lbs. That's with carpet/interior and racing seats plus back seat. There is no radio, undermat, or spare tire. It still has its 51:49 f/r ratio too.

you can check out my specific conversion on this page:

well found a big enough 3 jaw puller to pull the pulley off at home and tore the engine down the the bottom end for the night.

I made a couple of discoveries I will add up to a first time mistake. The first thing I noticed is when I removed the rockers arms, the 7th cylinder intake rocker bolt had backed out and allowed the pushrod to bounce around and chew the rocker up alittle. I dont think it is too devastating but will be calling comp cams to find out for sure. That cylinder did not look like it had been fired once.

The second thing I found out is that I dont believe it was the gasket maker I put on the oil pump that was the cause of the pressure issue. I know now it is not right but the gasket seal was still in one piece and no tears. I did however find in the valley area that there is a layer of silver paint coming off the interior of the engine. That would explain the floating particles that clogged my pickup tube and oil pump.

I will finish the tear down tomorrow and start on the cleaning process. I am going to call the shop and see what they will charge for a bar block dip and see if will be easier for me that way or to do it myself.

Glad you found it man! Also food for thought, the '01 and later pumps are a little more durable. It's nice to see someone with a REAL car and a REAL problem and a REAL fix. Great job on finding it!
And I have to repeat Sarge

Your job is to pass on how to bust your knuckles and shoot shit! The world can use more guys like us.

Got the crank out. Looks like I need new rod and main bearings, they are pitted and they are showing a little of the under metal. Oil starvation is some serious stuff.

Called comp cams and they are sending me a replacement for the 7th rocker and ppush rod, at a small fee. The valve can be polished where it got dinged on its stem end.

Got to figure out how to pull cam bearings now.

Dropped the block off yesterday to get a bath and get the cylinders homed again from the stupid oil pressure issue. I dont have the tools to remove or install new cam bearings so I decided it would just be easier for them to do it.

Suppose to have it back by the end of the week. In the mean time I am waiting for my spec stage 2 Kevlar clutch, aluminum flywheel and aluminum pressure plate to show up for the reassembly. Spec says its around -30lb with both aluminum pieces, this thing will rev fast when I get it back together.

Also on standby is the ground-control 4-corner coil-over suspension kit that is suppose to be shipping out sometime this week too.

I hate waiting, Thanks again for all of you inputs. I am greatly hoping that the 3rd time is a charm, especially since I have one running build under my built now.
