    newbie need some info

    well i have been looking to put a cam in my camaro but after reading a few threads in this section i figured it would be better to do a head/cam package
    at first i just wanted the comp cams GEN III/LS1/LS6 350 Xtreme RPM XR273HR Cam.
    because it has a great rpm range and my car is a DD street car, but im looking to get another car and make the head cam upgrade

    Patriot Performance GM LS 5.3 CNC Ported Heads 63cc, 226/226 .585/.585 112 lsa Cam & Rocker Arm Kit.
    or
    Patriot Performance GM LS6 CNC Ported 59cc Heads, 226/226 .585/.585 112 lsa Cam & 1.7 Rocker Kit.

    im looking at these two because of price and numbers ive seen but i dont know much so any info would be appreciated want to know the difference between the two and what i can expect tosee for rwhp #'s or if this package is even worth buying.
    oh and theres much time because i am saving up over the summer to do this.

    i built a 383 stroker a year ago and ran Patriot Stage 2 LS6 heads and A texas speed magic 4 camshaft and picked up over a 100 horses... and the cam was 389 and the heads were 999.99 from summit racing. there is a great cam and heads package...

    I'd definitely recommend contacting one of our performance sponsor's tech line to figure out a good head/cam combination for your car. You can read all the hype about particular components.....or they work great for someone else but getting the right set up for what you want and can afford is usually different. Getting the right cam matched to the valve train and air flow of a set of heads is invaluable. Just my .02

    You don't need to swap the heads, lots of cam only cars runnin around. I'm not wild about Patriot heads and definately wouldn't use one of their cams. Check out Texas Speed, their cams are the most popular out there now and their heads (PRC) are same price as Patriot.

    Thats no all entirely true. the patriot heads are a pair for $999.99 and prc's are 900 a head... Im not up with Patriot cams either and i run Texas Speed cams in both of my camaro's.But what is up with not liking the Patriot heads, I have had no problems with them in either of my cars and have good dyno numbers and track numbers. Just saying?

    PRCs are not $900 a head. I've just never seen the kinda results I see from PRC.

    Yeah their sites a lil confusing, but those prices are for the pair. They definately not charging $2,2XX for one AFR 205 head. My tuner's worked with em all.

    No, i know that, it is for the pair... You are correct im just saying PP'S Heads are 999.99 a pair on summit racing...

    Is that with their dual springs? I know the PRC 5.3s come with the PRC duals, that's $250 worth of spring kit there.

    yea PP heads come with double gold springs... that is why i have always gone with there heads, cause they are cheaper and come fully assembled... i have the ls6 pp stage 2 heads on my 383 stroker and have the LQ9 heads on my second gen ls1 408 stroker pp stage 3 heads... never have had a problem...
