    new cam install no idle

Just finished cam install in 98. 228r and all the goods, seemed to go well but won’t idle at all, pulling the PCM to send to frost for tune….cars an a4 full bolt-on with 3600 stall. I thought I would at least be able to get this small a cam to idle on stock tune (never intended to leave it that way but would like to get it up to temp and check for leaks)

hard to get it to idle on the stock tune with that cam. I have the same cam and I did get mine to idle but just barely and it would only idle for a minute or so before dying.

112, I picked the cam for the torque curve and lsa because I like choppy cams (just me). Cam seems tame little chop but not bad. without the tune the car would only idle long enough to see oil pressure. good luck with the build everything went pretty easy no major hang-ups just had to make a few tools (holding up lifters dowels, air-fitting to hold up valves, and tool to remove and install dampener); I purchased the valve spring compressor.

had the same cam in my ss and loved it. i had a previous dyno tune so mine idled fine but would load up like an older carbed car when you drove at the same hw speed for an alloted amount of time. it put down 389 rwhp through a 3400 convertor and 3.42's so i was impressed
2000 ss camaro, forged lq9 370 short block, stage 3 PRC 243 heads, fast 102 w, big mouth throttle body, MS3 cam, 1.7 roller rockers, stage 3 t-56, monster stage 3, pro 5.0, 4.10's with moser axles, bmr tq arm, lca's, phb. SOLD (thankfully)!!!

Having a small cam is like having a small dick, everytime you go to use it you wish it was bigger

did you not replace them when you changed the cam? if not then tear that motor back down before it bends or breaks a stocker because that can really f some stuff up

I've got a 95 GMC Sierra with a 5.3, it has a 228R cam and I won't idle either. I like to get a copy of that tune, if that's ok. Thanks
