Black on Black- 2000 Trans Am M6
need some cam help
i bought a 2000 ta with slp headers, 80 mm throttle body, 3 inch exhaust all the way out, a different cam, and subframe connectors.
But I dont know the size of the cam. I do know its a comp cam, and it dosent produce a choppy idle and u cant really hear it.
Does anyone have any ideas what size it might be?
Thanks

Just curious what do you hope to gain by finding out the grind # or size?
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

^ Reminds me of that commercial; of some guy working on his ride, with the words on the screen soon embellishing, "People who say if it's not broke don't fix it... just don't get it" lol. I hear what your saying, but if any tuning, and/or mods are to be added later on, it'd be a good idea to know the cam's specs ahead of time....

That is when it's time to make up some shit up......If it is already tuned and runs strong make up a cam to tell people. If it is a Comp as you think there isn't 50 choices. Not to mention if it was built a long time ago the grinds were really limited from them. What rpm does it make power to?
Right there will limit down your choices on pitiable grinds.
If you really have to know I guess pull it down to get the grind # off the end of it.
I just can't see doing all that work to a good running engine just to be able to tell someone including myself it a 274 XE grind cam.......That just me though.
We almost 90% of the time have a custom ground cam done to the head and car specs. We don't tell anybody the specs. But then again I can't remember the last person really asking for specs that knew what I was telling them. Kids ask all the time but we tell them what sounds good or crazy #'s and there response is cool that sounds like a good cam............

we'll when im driving the car it stays at around 2,000 rpm until i go to 5th and 6th gear then it drops back down to around 1,500 rpm, it seems to make power to about 5,500 rpm. if that helps any. i really appreciate the help

I would guess that this would be it if it is done at that low of rpm.
