I have pushrods but for a different build so I'll need to check length to see if I need a different size or not. I also forgot to put in there BTR trunion upgrade. I have a 10 bolt currently but I will be getting a strange s60.

I am researching tires to use and am going to get my ws6 wheels widened in the rear to 12" for 315s. Drag and road race will be the uses but mostly road racing. I will be upgrading to a manual or 4l80e at some point.

Next on my order list will be 95# injectors, trunion upgrade, and btr lifters as well as a racetronix fuel pump.
For a trans rebuild kit how much power would you say for my build it would need to hold 550 or 700hp? I am thinking 700hp which would give breathing room but maybe not.Last edited by 98TransAmWs-6; 12-04-2014 at 06:40 PM.

If you can afford it go with the higher, you never know when you might want to add power adders like Nitrous or Force Induction

So you're upgrading your current trans just to get rid of it soon for a better auto trans or a manual? Or, is this like years down the road? Just wondering as anything you put into it will likely be a lost investment when going to sell.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

I don't know when I'll do the swap but at the same token I would rather not have my trans blow up from the stroker. Right now I am just trying to plan. I wish I could fit a 4l80e or manual swap in but that isn't possible atm. Now if my trans would survive stock I could save and do the swap sooner but I doubt that.
The swap would likely be a few years from now.Last edited by 98TransAmWs-6; 09-15-2014 at 07:44 PM.

I wonder if anyone on here is running a stock transmission with that kind of power. Would be nice to see someone chime in with real life experience on this. I would also vote for an auto transmission in lieu of a manual one. I love my manual, but it's tough being consistent with it when racing.

I am curious as well and I think I am going to go with a 4l80e and I may just see how long the trans lasts with the power I am looking at or since I may be able to do a 4l80e swap instead of a 4l60e performance rebuild. From my research all that is needed is:
4l80e
Driveshaft for 4l80e
Standalone harness for the 4l80e
Crossmember for 4l80e
Torque arm relocation kit
I want to say when I was looking at it it came over just over $1000 depending on the price of the 4l80e. I would be using a used 4l80e.Last edited by 98TransAmWs-6; 09-15-2014 at 07:46 PM.

Have you been looking for used ones already? If so, are they easy to find? Just curious.

I have actually decided to switch the internals to K1 technologies stuff (new rod length of 6.125) and using a 4.125 crank to make this a 395 build. I want to use wiseco pistons but I can't seem to find a piston for a 3.905 bore, 4.125 crank, 6.125 rod, and is a flat top between -2.8 and -3.1cc. Without the valve relief my compression is going to be 12.4 which I believe is a little high for pump gas. I can find a wiseco piston just like I need but it is +4cc.
