    I take it the head gasket doesn't imprint itself as bad on the cast iron block. The head surface shown in some of the pics on here of aluminum blocks look terrible.

    I thought the same thing. I think it has to do with the difference of materials and thermal dynamics. (Translation - different metals heat up and retain heat differently.)

    Just ordered the last (fingersX) items to start putting back the block together.....Hopefully Jan is going to start the year out right.


    Order 2 valve cover gaskets for 99< covers
    ARP flywheel bolts
    Clevite P series main and rod bearing (standard) combo

    LS2 timing chain damper and Trickflow makes a kit to install so I don't need to drill & tap holes.

    believe it or not...you can fit 400lbs of shit in a 2 door Blazer. I high jacked my sons Blazer and off we went to my cousins house.

    Got the crank in along with half the pistons in this weekend. I have to finish the rest next weekend.

    Spent half the day final cleaning and going over some stuff checking clearances. So far a blood sacrifice has been done. So the car gods should be please. Damn those edges are sharp.


    One causality. I need to get one oil ring retainer and the 2nd ring. Both got FU when inserting into the piston. Somehow got pinched and we tapped to hard. Hope Total Seal Power will sell me just what I need and not a complete set.


    I love ARP stuff......
