More midrange HP in a 383 stroker?
This may be a little off topic here but I bet I can get some ideas. I have a Marinized 383 HT, Bosch Fuel injected, in my jet boat. I would like to make about 400 HP at 4100 to 4500 RPM (that would be about 515 ft lbs torque at 4100 or 470 ft lbs at 4500). I dont care about making it any higher since the impeller in the boat can not spin any faster than 4500 RPM. Reliability is of the utmost importance since I am often boating in places, that are a long way from anything with no chance of a tow. Also, I need to be able to run pump gas in the motor (80 gallon tank 2 MPG). Any ideas? Can this even be done?
Thanks

Is this a LSx-based engine? You could try some heads that have great port velocity like the AFR 205s... If you are talking TQ at the crank, I think it's very do-able. My 383 stays well above 400rwtq from 3250rpm to just over 6000rpm.

This is a GM performance crate engine
I am not sure if it is an LS motor. It is listed as just "small block" on the GM performance site. It is the same motor as the ZZ383 but it has cast iron heads. I looked at the ZZ383 but it seemed that the gains you get from the fast burn heads are all above 4500 RPM. I do mean torque at the crank shaft. What does 400 rwtq equate to at the crank?
Thanks
