Milling 806 casting heads.
Would I see a pretty noticable gain if I were to mill my heads .030 I was advised that I should have them cleaned up a little on the mating surface just to be safe and for 40$ more I can have them taken down that far. Anyone know what CR I should see if I decide to do that? I have a custom grind cam 590-580 lift 230 236 duration 114LSA that I will be running with them and it will be on a nitrous setup.

Usually when we go more than .022 we run into posiable problems with the intake to head angle.
So as of my machine shop work I would NOT go more than .022 and call it good with out issues.
And yes you'll gain compression which will gain you power. Noticable by seat of the pants NO. By #'s on the dyno yes. All gains add up.....Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Forget it. Just buy some LS6 heads for $3-500 for the pair and dont look back. You will get another 50cfm of flow at your cam's max lift without sacrificing much at all on the low end or flow velocity.
LS6 heads FTW!

I'm running 806 heads shaved .030" with no problems. A good port job will make them flow great !!! Soon I will be swapping to beefed up 5.3 heads and dome pistons.

You need to make sure that the machine shop your referring to has and uses a Serdi Valve Machine. If they don't use one I would HIGHLY recommend going to a different machine shop that uses a SERDI.
Have them do some quick cutting on the bowls while doing the valve job. We have seen a 20% increase in flow by just doing some cutting and blendind on the bowl and radious area.
A Serdi uses a radious style cutter to do the valve job..... So it's not a 3 angle or 5 angle its a smooth radious on the valve and the seat.

LS6's will outflow them and the smaller CC's will bump compression for you. Go LS6. MUCH more bang/buck imho.

I already have a nice set of 806 casting heads that have been port and polished by morgan motorsports, i got a good deal on them so I would have to go with a pretty nice set of heads to be able to outflow them even though I no longer have the numbers on them.

my camera doesnt do the best at close ups but everyone that I have showed them to says they were done really well. I know that the LS6 heads are better but for them to outflow these I would have to have all the same work done.
also my roommate is doign l92 heads on his GTO so I am going to take his LS6 heads off of him and see what I can do with them in the future but for now I am doing the best with what I have

Stay with the heads you have now!!! The LS6 head won't come close to your head now with those ports!!!
You need to measure your piston to deck clearence and let me know what you have.
