    LS7 or CTS-VR lifters?

I am thinking about replacing my lifters since I had to take my heads off to replace the gaskets. Which would you guys replace the stock lifters with? Also with either of these lifters would I need a different size pushrod? I saw on ls1tech that there was some mention that for proper preload with the ls7 lifters you need a different sized pushrod.

you do for LS7, i think its a ~.1 difference, ours are 7.55, those need 7.45.....i think

CST-VR i dont know anything about, but if youre doing lifters, you might as well do pushrods too

very insightful huh? I might get a pushrod length checker or email tsp or someone who carries the lifters and ask them.

I have the cts-vr lifters in my ls1. I run it frequently to 7500 rpm and have not had any issues. I'm guessing about 3000 miles so far.

Cool, do you know what length pushrod they require with stock heads and cam? Also, did you need the ls2 lifter trays?

LS2 lifter trays are a pretty standard swap when doing lifters, theyre only like $40 a set

I don't know if caddy lifters are the same height as stock ls1. I measured preload for my setup. These lifters are mostly for high rpm. You will need a lot of other parts before you can take advantage of them. Hp is an expensive addiction

I think I will do ls7 lifters for now. I will get a pushrod measuring tool.

This is the best thing to do. Stock length on PR's is indeed 7.4", ls7 lifters are a little taller but usally still do fall within preload spec (.080) but it is good to measure to be sure. As far as cts-v lifters go imo they're not worth it unless you are going 7500+ and doing it for an extended period of time. recently people have also have the cadlialc lifters failing, idk if it has since been fixed but I would just stay with ls7 for pretty much any non-track build
