LS6 SWAP and build with pics
Well guys I've been posting here and there that I got a practically new ls6 short block from a friend of mine cheap and that I was tracking down a set of heads to complete it... Well I finally got all the pieces together and heres the progress so far on the swap.
NEW LS6
Basically now all I have left to do is put the new motor onto the k member and reattach the tranny and swap her back in. Overall its went pretty smooth so far with just a few quirks here and there. I did use some vht wrinkle paint on the valve covers just for a little bit of a different look also. Tune is coming soon I'm sending out my pcm to frost tomorrow to get tuned.. I'm debating on descreening the maf and having him tune for it any thoughts? BTW car is an auto

It fits fine, its just like an ls1 so everything is just plug and play.
Why not? Frost recommended doing it and if its because of a valid tuning or running issue let me know but if its because debris may get in there I dont consider that a huge reason because all new gm mafs do not have screens and nothing that big should be going past the air filter anyway.

You should buy lunch to the guy that lent you his spare tire
Especially since he's probably driving around without one

In that pic yes I was then I got some big jackstands and set the car on them then pulled the motor out from underneath.
Ok thats fine and you should buy the guy lunch who helped you put in your gmmg catback, flushed your radiator in the old camaro, stripped the old camaro after it got totaled, and beat in the fenders on the camaro so the iforged would fit. After all that I think you still owe me quite a few lunches compared to that one I owe you. lolololulz

Engine is finally in my pcm is still in the mail from frost so I wont be able to drive it until tomorrow. Hopefully today I will get to use tatertot's pcm today (if he ever shows up to my house ) even though his an m6, atleast be able to hear it run just wont be able to drive it. Excuse the pcv setup gm wants 65 bucks for the little hose that goes there and I havent been able to find a good solution yet it is the pre 04 style valley cover so it still uses an external pcv valve

LS6 install...
I'm in the process of completing my LS6 install. I installed mine from the top. It wasn't bad at all. I had help for the removal of the old LS1, and install of the new LS6. The project stalls when other things in life come up, and/ or I need to wait while I can get the funds together...
I don't have my manifold installed yet. One thing I noticed; is that a PCV valve installed between the valley cover port and vacuum port of the manifold? I thought the PCV valve was integral with the LS6 valley cover. I'm in Calif. so I have to pay attention to all the smog equipment...
I'd like to post pics myself, but I probably haven't reached the post amount yet...Last edited by Mr_Rich; 05-30-2011 at 11:26 AM. Reason: Added paragraph.

Oh ya lol Alex helped me pull the motor out from under the car after it was unhooked and unbolted he was MIA the rest of the time lol.
The ls6 valley cover had 2 designs the first was was 01-03 and it used an external valve like mine has. If your motor was built in 04-present you have the new one with an internal pcv

Thanks. That answers my question. I bought a new LS6 crate engine with my retirement money. That was two years ago. A lot happened, but now I'm past the most difficult parts of this project.
