    LS6 heads and Cam

Ok I have a couple questions. It is my understanding that an 05 GTO is running LS6 heads with a 2001 ZO6 cam. I am wanting to take that H/C combo off my roomies 05 GTO and put it on my freinds 02 formula for him after the GTOs L92 swap. Would this hp gain be worth it? Also the Formula is currently running SLP 1.8 roller rockers. Would he still be able to use those with the Zo6 cam and stock valve covers. I believe the Zo6 specs are around 207-217 and .525 .525 on a 115.5. Also I was thinking 350-400$ being a fair price for the package with only 15,000 miles on them

What up juice, been a while again. On an 02 I wouldn't bother with either the heads or the cam. The cam definitly isn't worth it, and on an 02 the heads probably aren't either since they have the better 241s. IT will gain some, but IMO it isn't worth the pain of doing it. If you don't mind doing the work for not alot of payoff do it

its an 02 formie which means it has a very small cam to begin with so i figured it wuold have to see some gain especially with the rockers, i knew it wouldnt be a huge payoff but was hoping for around 30 rwhp from the whole setup which would put him right at 400rwhp. he has a bit of a freak, dynoed 372rwhp with bolt ons and rockers.. 328 bone stock.

That's not a freak for an 02 though, they dyno that much very frequently. A good friend here gutted his cats and put loudmouth on and dyno'd 358 at the wheels, and his friend dyno'd 351 also with a catback but no gutted cats. 02s are beasts

I hate it when someone says "an ls1 is an ls1 is an ls1". It just isn't true, different years have different heads, intake, cam, exhaust manifolds, cat setup etc. on a 98-99 I'd say do it, on his I wouldn't go through the trouble without better heads and/or bigger cam

I agree, not worth the time. If you're going to put in the wrench time, you might as well make it worth while with some better parts. But it is true that the LS2 came with the LS6 heads.

if he's looking for a sleeper set up it would be a very good idea... plus 100 dry nos shot & he's set

but if he's not looking for a sleeper set up then def go bigger - the gains will be much more appreciated... esp after all those hours of work

im basically just trying to edge him up to the 400 rwhp mark and a ls6 with full bolt ons and roller rockers should definatly do that so thats what I was thinking. Also we are already pulling my engine to do the heads/cam swap along with putting in the new trans and possible motor mounts. then within a few days we are doing the head/cam swap on my roomates GTO so we just kinda figured what the hell, we have better parts laying around than whats on his car and we should be getting fairly proficient by the time we get to his
