The 04 block i have also uses LS2 rear cover . From what we know , i have pretty much a LS2 block with 5.7 holes, i could be wrong but it did require some LS2 parts.

It was the first one my maching shop seen after building 10 years + of these motors
GM sure does seem to enjoy building "factory freaks."

Question for you guys. I checked the heads of my car.
And my car don't have the castin number? That means they been rebuild or somethin?
And on the drivers side it only shows the year they were made
and on other cars I seen the head castin number so. Any idea?
    Thanks

the 853 heads were on the 99-00 cars, the 241 started in 01,

243 heads were on LS6/ZO6 Vetts 01-04 and on the 05-07 LS2 Vette, and on the
05-06 LS2 GTO and trail blazers.

241s came on some 2000 f-bodies.the car has 10,000 on it.if they did head work they did a shitty job,#7 has a intake leak.it still has the factory sticker on it.time for some trick flows.

Trick Flows are great heads from what I have heard I think Trick Flows would be better in every aspect!

I am still using 241's but mine are Stage 1X Absolute Speed hand ported. With
Ferria 2.00-1.57 light weight Vette race valves. Special back cut & bowl work , LSXsolutions duel valve spring kit , Heads flow 290 @ .550, 303 @ .600

Awsome heads and i didnt lose any bottom end TQ, My heads are = or maybe a little better , to the AFR 205 Mongoose heads, The AFR's do have a thick deck, good for extra clamping.

243 LS6 castings are pretty thick to, but they would have raised my compression to much, i wanted to stay at 9.25 to 1 compression.

I think the Trick Flow 215 head would be a Great choise on a stock cubed 346 LS1/LS6
any bigger and you loose bottom end , i wish AFR made a 215 head

I am concerned about which head port matches up best with my fast intake.trick flows are grate heads ,but I have seen some alignment problems with them.I feel a tfs 220cc cast head is not too big for a 346ci motor, most cnc heads are 228 cc volume when finished.I think AFR dose now make a 215 cc head.

are you talking about there 225 head ???

anyway ,i didnt know they were having alignment problems ???

I like AFR's to be honest, and those heads are "Thick" great for a FI motor, i always said if my 241's dont hold i would get either a set of AFR 205 mongoose or the TF 215's.

OK yes 225's will work fine , but a bigger cam might be needed to benifite.

I have a friend that bought a built/forged LS7 short block and installed it in his C5 ZO6 vette , the stock LS6 had a Fast intake on it . and TF heads car was in the 10's

he went with TF235's so he could reuse the Fast intake and headers, a lot of people said he didnt know what he was doing, but he siad ill go high 9's now and he did that 9.80's , sick car all motor , o yeah the ZO6 is a auto now

AFR dose make a 215 head,Tony Mamo did a dyno using them on a 383.I was looking only at TFS 220 fast as cast .some PRC stage 2 5.3 heads have 220cc intake runners.chrs1313 did a write up on using a fast intake with tfs 215 heads.he used thick strips of rubber to rise the intake and align the port floors.Ron at vengeance mentioned this misalignment problem to me also.
