    LS6 Conversion

Im wanting to make some more power out of the ls1....but keep drivablity

so im thinking of bulding it as close to a ls6 as possible

im lucky to have the ls6 block...and it being a 01' i have the intake manifold...

what else would i need to make it a ls6?

another reason for this instead of just bulding a mild set up...is i get discounts, i work at the dealership.....so most parts would be easily orded and cheaply priced...and its all GM so i would have realiabilty if i built a ls6...compared to a built ls1

well, you have the intake and block. all you need is the cam and heads. seeing as you work for a dealership, you might want to peruse the GMPP catalog and see what better stuff they have to use.

Just put a GM Hotcam in your LS1,
You will have more power than LS6 and still be driveable.

another vote for the hotcam if that's the way you're wanting to go. Much better gains vs an LS6 cam.

Check this out, this may help you. I wanted to do this swap but I just ended up putting a bigger cam in mine. Let me know if you end up doing this!

+1 for the hot cam there is not much of a power difference in the LS1/LS6 for the money you will end up spending. Most LS1's go 290- 310 RWHP where LS6's are in the 330's maybe 340.

It's in the GMPerformance parts catalog but is available through several sponsors on this site
I think it's around 430.00 for cam and valvesprings

The ls7 is the "Better" Ls2

JMO but for the amount of work involved in a cam swap you would be better off with a Hotcam or something even larger. I'm sure most of the others would agree that the gain with an LS6 cam aren't worth the effort of the swap. And I'm sure you could find a Hotcam or TR224 used as well.

But I've only owned my LS1 for 9 yrs so what do I know.

i totaly agree...more power would be nice...but i was thinking ls6 because they are meant to be in a DD...as they are in stock z06s.....and my car gets driven everyday....so i dont want somthing EXTREME...

would those hot cams be good for DD?
