    LS6 cam

Not your normal thread concerning that cam though.
In Colorado I get the pleasure of passing emissions.
    Well...something tells me the 248/254 629/622 113 TSP cam won't pass me.

So...I think I got my hands on an LS6 cam to put in it for the purpose of passing emissions.

Curious...how do you think it will run/make for power with said LS6 cam??? What about the power curves??
Motor is a TSP 402ci with Patriot stage III LS6 heads and FAST 90/90.
    Made 531/481 as it sits.

I think the cam will definately be 'maxed out'. You have more than enough flow on both ends to accomodate the smaller cam. Will your current tune accomodate the smaller cam though? And your output will only be as good as the cam can allow, so I'm thinking you'll see power similar to a bolt-on LS6. But I don't know how your extra cubes will affect it over a stock displacement LS6 motor. Just my guess.

    It won't be staying in.
Just wondering how it will be if I get that cam.

The tune will be adjusted. It will be a tune for emissions purposes. Probably a little lean.
I bet it would still make 420 RWHP.
With a wickedly flat torque curve right around 420 as well.

Yeah, your car is going to feel like a dog with the LS6 cam. Sounds like a fun experience.

So wait, they don't plug in to the OBD II port for your emissions? You have to actually do a sniff test? Never heard of that on a OBD II vehcile before.

    Several states have sniffer tests.

I don't recall if they plug in or not to test. Wouldn't matter as long as the SES light isn't on.

Not looking to pay for the cam. Well...I might pay a little.

I won't be running the cam long. Just long enough to get by. Just wondering how it would drive.

I don't know I am curious, the curve I bet would be flat as hell. 420 at the wheels wouldn't be anything to sneeze at especially if it came on from jump and held on till jump off. Let us know how it feels, like I said I am curious sounds interesting, but first go drive something other than that monster you are driving now because everything is relative. What kind of times you run with that beast.

    Went 11.97 at 117.59.

Kicker....7200 density altitude, full weight, pump gas.
Dyno corrects for conditions, track doesn't. I have used a couple calcs and gotten anything from 10.6 to 11.2 at about 128MPH.

damn, i would love to see that car able to be ran at a lower altitude.

For sure the car is gonna be cut back something fierce, you dont need us to tell you that. I bet the tune you have now will be ok just to pass emissions with the cam. I mean, its just gonna be for what, a couple days right? Good luck dude.

I'd guess 460/420. Seems high still but thats 71/61 lower, imagine that as a sales pitch for a cam.

You guessing 460 torque 420 horse I guess exactly opposite.

Flip that, I confused myself, what I'm saying is the horsepower rear wheel will be 420 or under and the torque will be quite a bit more.
