    ls6

    does anybody know if a ls6 cam will be any good for an ls1 and and how much hp will i gain?the mechanic thats going to install it says he puts it in a lot of fbodys and get good hp.

    much better cams to choose from out there depending on your goals. The ls6 engine is rated at 405 and that's with ls6 heads so you'd be a little shy of that at the motor with ls1 heads. My guess would be 360 at the wheels and that's probably being generous. With the money spent and the work involved I would look at something with a little more kick to it like a 224 cam.

    Just my opinion but if your going to the trouble of changing out the cam I would go with something else besides the ls6 cam. I would call up a few different cam companys and tell them what you are planning on doing with the car and go from there. Like I said thats just what I would do and going to do.

    I agree, a ls6 cam wouldn't help for how much money it would cost. A 224 or larger cam would be better.

    i want to be able to keep my stock bottom end and oil pump and stock rocker arms.

    What are your horsepower goals? Budget range? If I were you, I would be replacing your stock oil pump, I know of a few people that have killed their motors and it was b/c of the stock oil pump.
