LS4 oil pan & rear engine application-oil starvation
I'm in the process of installing an LS4 in a rear engined corvair using a porsche transaxle. The LS4 is a fwd application and in this setup the sump will be in the forward half of the engine. I'm currently in Afghanistan and have a shop doing the majority of the work, so I'm here doing online research.
The pictures I've found so far of the LS4 shows no baffles in this pan, only a windage tray. Obviously in the traverse mounted engine oil starvation during launch isn't going to be a problem. And these cars can't handle hard enough to slosh the oil to one side.
Do you think starvation would be a problem during launch? I'm don't plan to excede 400hp in this application. If you think so, I can always go to a GTO pan. I need to know early on because of the engine crossmember that will need to be shaped different.
thanks in advance.
