    Ls2 Timing Chain

Why do so many use the LS2 timing chain? Is it better than the LS1 chain and cheaper than a aftermarket? The reason I ask is because GM says that the ls2 chain will not fit the ls1 in my perfomance parts catolog.

the ls2 chain will fit. compare the two side by side and the ls2 is much beefier than the ls1. Its really cheap too! i did it.

Cool! I figured GM just says it won't fit so people spend more on a 'Heavy Duty" chain.

Ls2 Timing chain fit my Ls1 just fine. I upgraded to that when I got my cam installed. Recommended upgrade if you plan on doing that. Works great with no issues at all.

Hah, that's funny. Tell them to order you the LS1 chain then! That's because the LS2 chain is now the standard replacement for the LS1 chain!

That is what I was I got one for a 99 LS1 this week from the stealership. I didn't know there were two versions. How do I know if they gave me an LS1 chain or an LS2?

Beat me too it! There is only one part now, the LS2 chain is the standard replacement. Also the LS2 chain is much beefier than a LS1 chain and you should know it just by looking at it.
