If he sells the GM parts, ask him if he could replace the cam with the GM Hot Cam ASA race grind, 219/228-.525/.525-112LSA, you can still use the stock springs. This cam with LS6 intake, and Headers should give you approx 472 hp @ 6100 rpm, and 447 ft-lbs TQ @ 4900. GM knows how to build their own motors. By the way, if you use Buy it now, you will save approx $350.00 on gaskets, and head bolts. I just bought all these, only I used aftermarket head gaskets, and ARP bolts. This is a good deal. Just don't forget to account for a tune. Around here the aver. cost for head & cam only, is $600.00 plus $350.00 for a tune. $350.00 for an install is awsome!!

The Hotcam and ASA are 2 different Cams
    Hot cam 219/228 525/525 112
    ASA cam 226/236 525/525 110

9T8W66 Well, thats what I get for not proof reading It should have read"GM Hot Cam Kit-219/228-.525/.525 112, P/N 12480033, Kit includes 16 LS6 valve springs P/N 12565117, OR ASA Cam 226/236-.525/.525 110, P/N 12480110, Cam requires valve spring P/N 12586484" The 6484 springs are the ones that come on the GMPP LS6 and LS2 Heads. Also, the HP numbers are at the flywheel and NOT the wheels.
Thanks, for the correction, I do not want to pass any bad info. Just want to give SCHRYSLER the most options, being as correct as I can, so He can make an informed decision. Maybe between all of us watching each other, we'll get it right.

No harm done, just helping out cause that's what these sites are for
IMO the ASA Grind is the way to go. Great torque curve with good top end and you would never have to worry about replacing valvesprings every 20k miles like some other high lift cams. The 110 lobe spread may make tuning a little trickier but this thing has an idle that will intimidate almost any opponents.

I purchased one of these, and will be installing it this weekend. All the parts are new and sealed in original GM packaging. Looks like a good kit.

The only modification I will do is to port match the heads. Got a hold of a friends HPTuner, and looking to see how this goes.

The reason for the swap is I had a valve seat come loose in my original heads. Luckly it didn't fall out and destroy the motor. And the valve springs are down to 60 - 80 pounds, according to the machine shop. So these heads were the same price as having the heads rebuilt. Can't beat that.

I have a set of valve covers and coil mounts, since the 1998's are permiter bolt and these heads are center bolt. Hopefully I have everything covered.

I will keep everyone posted on how it goes.

By the way my car is a 1998 WS6 TA. I autocross and track it mostly. Actualy took it off the street, because I could not control my right foot any more. Better to keep it on the track, where I can drive it like it should be.

    Later Tracey
