not to argue with anyone i do agree its hard for a bolt to break . but i disagree that an engine has to overheat to cause a bolt to weaken or "fail". normal engine operating temperatures during an engines heat cycle is enough to weaken the composition of the bolt reducing its strength that is with several cycles

not true...if it was my camaro with 210k miles would have problems after all those heat cycles.I'm trying to correct this myth that bolts break or are not reuseable.

overtighten a torgue to yield bolt similar to those used on a head and you will see it snap

stock bolts and ARP bolts are not the same. factory bolts are torque to yield and are only to be used once. ARP are reuseable.

i have had a friend break stock bolts by doing it wrong as well. he did one bolt correct. used a torque wrench to find out the torque value. then preceeded to break two bolts, one on each side.

rivi - might want to re-evaluate your conversation tactics.

I'm not saying you can't break any bolt.I'm saying these bolts can used again if you torque them properly.I wouldn't try the torque wrench to tighten them,i would use the torque to yield method and i'll bet you don't break any.Like i said before you can easily measure the bolts to see if they are still good.If any are beyond spec replace only those.I think the biggest reason GM says replace them is their techs are not trained to check them, its easier just to say use new bolts.
I apologize if i hurt anyones feelings but this is the net,yer skin needs to be a little thick.

you need to be a little more lax in how you come across on the internet. your three previous posts weren't needed.
