    LS1 cam reccomendations

Good morning everyone. I just purchased an LS1 block for my 98 Trans Am. The block came out of a 01 vette that was wrapped around a tree. It has 1900 miles on it. I stole it for $1000! Pretty good, huh?

Anyway, I am going to be putting it in my TA this week and I was thinking about installing a cam before it goes in. I am looking for reccomendations on an economical cam that will work with my stock setup. I dont really understand what all the numbers translate to and there are so many choices, I am simply lost. I just want something that is cost effective and that will give me a decent power gain with that beautiful sound. Any suggestions?

    Wrong forum
But anyway you do realize you will have to swap valvesprings with any Cam install right ? That and some LT headers would be an easy swap while your installing the engine aswell.
TR224 should be what your looking for.

This is the wrong forum? Which one was I supposed to post in? The springs usually come with the kit, right?

Springs usually come with the kit, and I can't see why this is the wrong forum. Oh and the 224R and 228R from TSP are very popular choices.

I did the 224/ 12lsa cam from TSP the kit came out to a few cents over 1k shipped to my door. I dont know if you consider that 'cost effective' but that was cam,pushrods,lifters,springs,oilpump,timingchain.. .

Its my DD so i didnt want to go too big. This is what it sounds like. 112lsa

The 224 and 228 cams are great cams for cars that aren't race cars.
