just the regular, chances are slim to find on in a junk yard that doesn't always get these cars. if they have it they know what it's worth. what are you looking for and price. ?

Are you looking for an LS1 for the sake of An LS1 or just a good LS engine. I ask this because one of the best budget motors going on now is the LQ9 out of all the Caddy Suvs' You can get the whole drivetrain cheaper and you get an Iron block which you can bore cheaper than an LS1 and its already a 6.0. Plus the intake on it commonly referred to as "big ugly" outperforms all stock intakes and even outperformed the wieand and the first FAST intake. But its around 3 1/2 inches taller than the LS1. I'm actually looking into one to drop in a 69 Nova. Also the LS4 in the Impala and monte Carlo SS's and Pontiac GXP's are a great potential motor. Add a sleeve kit to it and bam a LS1 with LS6 heads on it already. I'm sure you can find both as cheap if not cheaper than the much desired LS1.

Biggest thing with the LS-4 is whether it could be turned back along the cars centerline. Since it comes in the Impala SS it is front drive, but I would guess the motor mounting points would be in the same place as they are on any rear drive V-8. Someone with more intimate knowledge of the LS-4 will have to double check me on that. GM sometimes does things that don't make sense to us out here in the real world because most of us don't look at things down to the part of a cent. But for GM one cent a car makes a difference when you translate it over thousands of vehicles.
