LS1 & $4k towards rebuild. what to do?

This is a discussion on LS1 & $4k towards rebuild. what to do? within the Internal Engine forums, part of the LSx Technical Help Section category; I'd say that's a sound idea, get the crate LS6 or LS3, what ever floats your boat, and drive it ...

    I'd say that's a sound idea, get the crate LS6 or LS3, what ever floats your boat, and drive it as is, mod it later.

    I've got a feeling he might just be happy with the power output right out of the crate and leave it alone.

    Ya, alot of smack talk but when it really comes down to it,,,,that much power is a real eye opener for alot of people.

    Enough to propel a full weight 4th gen into the 11's. When you have been driving a 13 second car for years, and jump right into an 11 second ride, it's a smack in the face. Should fill the need for speed for most people for quite a while.

    something that will handle my lead foot (that is after my suspension can hold too)

    boost will be in 5+ years (iff i even decide to go boost)

    and yes. i will have to leave the crate as is for a while anyways because ill need to focus my expenses on my rear and tranny

    With all respect, lets say you did have that car. It would have a cage and a five point, If I was the one to make it, for anyone. That is not something I want on my conscious. You would have plenty of time to loose some weight off of that foot, when your laying in the hospital. That's considereing your lucky.

    Real goals=Real out comes.

    The best advice I can give is get out there and try some stuff for yourself, learn for yourself, while always considering others opinions. Some guys that don't deal on the web don't give a damn about all these numbers, it's a totally different world when you get out there and start hangin' with the boys.

    Even a little C5 Z06 will go low 12's or high 11's at 114+ mph,,,,and that's if it's not modded. And how many of those are still running around that haven't been tinkered with??

    Edit that was a joke, just trying to say that Mr. Jones is always good for stats, which is very helpful. Now I just need ya'all to find me a me a master rebuild kit with hypertectic pistons for cheap lol. Over there on that cash to performance one.

    I know I've been in a car with 500rwhp...it was a Mustang GT. It scared the living shit out of me. He had street tires on it and couldn't keep it under control even with the slightest throttle pop.

    Going from 300rwhp to 425rwhp is like going from a moped to a Hayabusa

    ehh i see a few stockers running around. friend of mine has a 98 or 99 maybe 00 z06 stock. but it stays in storage except for like april-august. and i seen a hunter green c5 the other weekend.
    but still i understand. and ill say the same thing i said to my dad when i bought the T/A
    "it doesnt matter the power under the hood. driving a civic could land you in a hole in the ground if your dumb with it. but it depends on the driver behind the wheel. (an other drivers too)"

    and im just setting an example... besides i wont be able to push that power very hard for fear of my rear and tranny (not to mention insurance)

    more questions...
    for the dyno... could i possibly blow my tranny on that?
    and how hard do you think it will be to find a shop in southern indiana that will do the swap?

    i rode a R6 once...it wasnt as easy as he made it look...but ive only rode a dirt bike a couple of times...

    This, hell when i went from a stock ls1 car to what i have now (full bolt ons and 2.73-3.42 gears) it scared the hell outta me for a little while i can only imagine what a cam/stall would feel like. btw 425 rwhp is what a stock bolt on ls3 makes and gets 26mpg the hotcam will be around 450whp. fwiw my neighbors stock 08 z06 makes 440rwhp and while its a vette so its lighter and faster than a 440whp fbody it is an absolute death trap. The car is just an absolute rocket every time he launches it you swear you cannot pull yourself out of the seat i admit id prolly kill myself in that car lol but id be doing it in a z06 lol
