well the reason i want a full assymbled engine is so that i get the ls6 intake, better fuel injectors, and all new coils, etc. etc.
    SDPC sells the LS6 for $5890 +s/h
    Use ls1 tb/intake---comes with LS6 intake
    ls1 oil pan/pickup
*thats it install and plug in then tune
    _____________________________________
    Swap List ls2
The LS2 i found at rapid motorsports for $5899
use ls1 tb/intake---comes with the composite intake
    knock sensor harness--$60 from SDPC
cam sensor harness--^^^comes with knock sensor
    ls1 oilpan/pickup
*07-up ls2 will require 58x conversion---$255 from Lingenfelter if necessary

so it is only a $315 difference. but as Frost said. they dyno with lesser numbers
but like redbird555 and jones said bigger has better potential down the road. and i do eventually plan to put some heads/cam on this.

so play less for more imediate power
or play more for more potential power

    *********
both engines are intake to oil pan full assymbled
    mine came with the intake...

You know you could buy the crate for $3400,,,then just price out the little stuff,,,and still come in much cheaper than the total package.

You can find LS6 intakes for $300-$400
Injectors don't cost all that much. And unless you are having coil pack issues you really don't need them. But if you were going to spend a wad on coil packs,,,rather then spend a $2500 difference in crate motors, I'd just buy a nice set of MSD's and still come in under the price difference.

I've been checking around, and it appears that's no longer the case anymore. For the $3400 either from SPDC or Crateenginedepot, you get an engine with the valley cover but no intake specified. They also come with the CTS-v oil pan so your Fbody pan has to be swapped on.

That's the only version of the LS6 I see anywhere now. Unless you pony up $5900 for the complete setup with fuel injectors, fuel rails and coil packs,etc....

Where did you find it for $3400 with the intake included??

Well shucks, I'd have jumped in on that deal if I'd known. I talked to Crateenginedepot about 4 months ago about it.
Now you have me wondering if SPDC is any different. Hmmm.

Ha, that's funny. I wonder how many people they get to buy the LS1 with a price structure like that

alright ill try that. let me as a dumb question
    i found a LS6 long block for ---------------$3650
i think im gonna go with Fast 90/90?-------$1430
MSD Blaster Coil Packs from KYS-----------$632
What plugs should i get? NGK TR55?
    and what about...
    Pulleys?
    Electronic controls?
    Crank trigger Ignition?

i have exhaust and motor mounts and MSD plug wires. and my oil pan/pick-up swaps over
what swaps over? and am i missing anything?

All that and you are still coming in cheaper than the complete crate engine for $5900
On the intake I'm not sure where you found the FAST 90/90 but I was under the assumption that wasn't made anymore, and the 102 is all you'll find. That's alot of money to plunk down on an intake. Depending on what you really want out of the car would ultimately make up my mind. For me the LS6 is all I need. It's up to you....
All the other stuff you mentioned just simply swaps over, all the sensors, pulleys, electronics,,,you name it.

On spark plugs,,,I'm not an NGK fan but if that's what you want they will work.

I would drop the MSD coil packs from your list and go with stock spark plugs.....

If your not boosting or spraying stay with the stock spark plugs... Obviosly new ones

this... the MSD coil packs are a waste... the stockers are just fine... the MSD plug wires i would do though... i prefer autolite plugs but NGK's are great as well...

I agree on the coil packs unless you really think it's something you need.
Just a heads up,,,Kenny Dutweiler states that the stock coil packs will support upwards of 1,500 HP if you close the plug gaps to around .020

On the plugs I prefer a heat range colder than stock.

    Exactly
Autolites are the way to go. 104's are the stock heat range. If you want Platinum go with the APP103's (one step colder)
Or you could go with a copper core for more spark energy in the AR103 line.

alrighty. sounds good. just to be on the safe side. ill have Charles check out my car. see if anything will need replacing on the swap.

question. whats the difference between a long and short block. i mean i know the long block comes with more stuff and that it differs from company to company. but the small block doesnt come with the top end right?

Short blocks are generally minus the cylinder heads and minus the camshaft and valvetrain.

Long blocks have the heads and in most cases the valvetrains intact. Sometimes they include intake manifolds and some or all of the sheetmetal as well.
