i know that gm high tech mag or something grinds on the valves sides so there is less restrictions on the air flow

one of my friends bought all his stuff from SLPonline.com.. he bought the slp top end kit, along with the powerpac kit for like 4k total and he said that most the most solid upgrade he's ever done to a LS motor.. he hasn't dyno'd it but he did beat run neck and neck with a LS7 Vette from a 20 roll

Stage III is over-kill for a 346 engine. those are better suited for stroker (383) to 402/408 engines...

im running Patriot Stage II Ls6 heads (59cc). those would be the best for you. the lower 'cc' helps to bump up the c/r to help make a little more power...

Could have gotten it all for half that from someone else. SLP is a joke.

And NO WAY was that Corvette racing. I am doors with a stock one...and I make 531RWHP.

With heads, you get what you pay for. The aftermarket castings cost more because they are better flowing, have better port velocity and thicker decks, etc, etc..

In saying that, there are some good LS6 and ported Ls1 heads out there, but if you start from a lesser point, you won't always achieve the full potential of the engine.

A lot of the time it comes down to coin, so pick the best that you can afford and you'll most likely be happy.

As for the heads mentioned by the OP -

    S1 STAGE 3 PORTED HEADS

HEADS ARE PORTED. AND FLOWED @ 28" H2O
    241 CASTINGS & 225 CC INTAKE PORTS
    - IMO, the 225cc intake port volume doesn't invoke the intake airspeed that the aftermarket 205, 210 and 215 posts can. There is a great bloke over here who does these things for a living and at one stage he was slightly filling the intake ports to get the volume down and the airspeed up.

    Good luck with your search.

    Cheers,

    Macca

i mean it is what it is.. maybe the vette wasn't racing b/c he did race a svt cobra afterwards and spanked him but it was neck and neck when they shut it down at 120ish

Freakish things happen on the street...so who knows. Bad driver, traction, not 100% throttle, etc...

But I do know it takes more than some SLP topend kit to run doors with one.

That cam is pretty big isn't it?
I wouldn't mill with that cam.

Either way, clay it and check the clearance. Worth the extra time, more so since you don't have a ton of info on those heads.
