    At a Loss

So my baby has been down for over a year and i finally got her all back together. but i am having some issues.

The car idle's just fine, Still back fires ( No cats ) Like it did before.

It is hard to describe but i am on the freeway doing 70mph in 5th i shift to 6th and push the gas the shifter shakes, then engine looses power I think i hear it backfiring and the check engine light starts flashing. if i bring up the RPM's by shifing back in 5th everything seems ok,

it does the same thing on city streets just lower gears so i dont think it is 6th or the trans.

    Just out of ideas

Tune up? Coil packs? Injectors? Fuel filter? Fuel pump? Sounds like a misfire more though.

Mine used to do that. It turned out to be fuel PSI regulator and fuel pump

    How do you know?

Swap that coil pack out for another cylinder's

Pull the plug on the cylinder, Inspect

Insure the plug wire is "snapped" on. Also make sure it isnt burnt/rubbing.

Make sure that fuel injecor is working correctly.

and if it continues, swap that injector as well.

Same thing happened to me once it was a d@mn valve spring on a customers car, he had a stock cam and the valve spring just broke and caused a cylinder miss fire.

cousin of mine had an 01 with this problem, turned out to be a broken ring land on # 6 piston. Had to do a leak down test to find it. Hope this isnt your case.
