    Shouldn't need it though.
Motor has 9K on it....with oil changes at every 1000-1500 miles.

I'll try it out over the winter.

I have rectified the oil pressure issue already though.
My dipstick reads full...but it is a little low.

How do you know if the oil is actually thinning? Iíve seen a few Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 Used Oil Analysis and no major issue with shear showed up. There was some vary slight variation which could be attributed to lab result variation and not actual lubricant performance. Regardless the Pennzoil was in spec in all the UOAs.

Itís also been said that the rule of thumb in finding the right viscosity for your application is 10psi of oil pressure for every 1000rpm (at operating temp).

ďUnder WOT in the first two gears, the oil pressure will drop to 38-40PSIĒ

What is the engine RPM when your oil pressure is at the above stated 38-40PSI? Perhaps the loss of oil pressure at WOT indicates that you have good oil flow. Less resistance to flow means less oil pressure. More oil flow means better engine cooling.

I donít have all the specifics about your issue. Maybe itís not an issue at all, but rather an ideal situation?

Well...at WOT at 5500RPM, it goes from 70PSI to 40PSI...once off the gas...it jumps right back up.

Overall...I know the oil pick up tube gets a little air. I don't know that the PP is thinning out, I can only assume it is as I have never had another oil do this in my car.

There could be other factors here though...big cam (lots of overlap) tuned rich (fixing that today). Fuel dilution I would assume can create problems.

No...it isn't worth the money. It was years ago when Mobil 1 was a basestock IV...not now that it is a Basestock III but still the same price.
Dont know about that GM vehicles come stock with Mobil 1. I dont know of any manufacter who's cars come with PP... Mobil 1 is a better oil, there are multiple stories I have heard bad about PP. I tend to trust General Motors.

If you look at people's UOA you will see that PP is actually a really good oil. Not saying Mobil 1 is bad, just it does not perform as well.

As far as trusting GM, well I have been a long time Chevy boy, but GM did design things like the Optispark, so the manufacturer can make a few mistakes

the 10 bolts were put in for the stock rating of the car..and under the assumption that 1. people wouldn't do 4000k plus dumps and donuts..the 10 bolt does its intended job. it allowed the majority of the money to be spent on the powerplant and the transmissions...so yes silly you

Have you EVER sent your oil to be tested and seen a UOA with that over priced "better oil".

I have seen many and not one showed that Mobil 1 was even close to PP.

Mobil 1 is not what it once was years ago. Sorry to inform you but GM is ALL about profit not quality. If Mobil 1 gave them 5 cents cheaper a gallon then Quaker State they would chose Mobil 1 for the sole purpose of profit.

What kind of filter are you using? Look at through Sarge's threads and you'll find a link to a lab that will do your first UOA for free. Do it with your Mobil 1 then change it to PP and at the same mileage send it out and I guarantee it will be better.

My oil pressure guage is stuck at 80...all the time! Been that way ever since I blew the old one off of my motor, and it didn't go back to normal even with a new sending unit. Yea I know, I need to have it looked at...
