Loosing oil pressure
1st and 2nd gear both do it. Had this problem before, seems like it came back with the switch to Pennzoil Platinum.
Under WOT in the first two gears, the oil pressure will drop to 38-40PSI from the 65 or so it would otherwise be.
This is an option...

Would thicker oil take care of this rather than dropping the pan for an improved baffle?
I miss my VP 5w-30...

Well...I solved it yesterday....kinda.
Simple oil change (6 quarts) and the problem was gone. I had PP here, so I used it.
Thinking next change I will get away from PP though. I never had this issue with the VP oil I was using...but they discontinued it.
Now, I know my car goes through a little oil, but I had added and still had the problem. Wondering if fuel diluation is a problem for me....thinning the PP out faster than other oils.

I used PP once on my car, I didn't like it, oil pressure seemed to be lower all around for me, and I'm pretty much stock...it was black after 1,000 miles and dripped like water...Mobile 1 Extended Performance synthetic is what I use now. Oil pressure is great, it lasts longer, still brown when I change at 3-4,000 miles, so it lasts...they say up to 15,000, but no f'ing way I'm leaving it in there that long....and I use the Mobil 1 oil filter with...
So I would say switch to Mobil 1 next change, cause chances are it's not going to be long before you have the same problem, with the same oil...

You may also chat with our Amsoil sponsor...he seems to know his stuff about high horsepower beasts like yours....of course, he'll probably recommend his product, but what sponsor wouldn't (besides Strano sometimes, most honest sponsor I know)

I refuse to pay for Mobil 1. Not worth the money....I would if it was the same price as PP.
You want your oil to be black....even after 500 miles. Means it is working.

Not worth the money? How much do you drive your car, and how often do you change oil? I would say if your car sits a lot, it would be worth the extra money to have the good stuff in there....
I drive a hundred miles a day, so I really can't afford NOT to have Mobil 1, it just outlasts everything else I've used....
Not saying I have more experience than you, you've probably done your share of test and compare....but I would still say look at other brands, even if it's not Mobil 1, you'll probably find that Pissoil is at the bottom of the barrel these days....I bet even Castrol would be better

Pennzoil Platinum is a better oil than Mobil 1. And yet Mobil 1 is more expensive.
No...it isn't worth the money. It was years ago when Mobil 1 was a basestock IV...not now that it is a Basestock III but still the same price.

I just don't understand I guess, if you're complaining about PP in your car thinning out, why do talk so good about it now? Am I missing something? Sorry I'm not trying to cause an oil war, we've already got one of those....just trying to figure out what it is you want to know based on your problem.

I got money that Mobil 1 would do the same thing as the PP.
PP shows better wear than Mobil 1. UOA's show it is the better oil....right now. Changes all the time.
What I really was looking for...was a solution to the sloshing of the oil. Thinking the baffle in the oil pan is still a great idea. Just not able to do that for a few months.

It is the stock pan.
Going to keep a very close eye on the level and the pressure over the next 750 miles.
I wsan't talking bad about PP...just thinking maybe it thins out a little faster when fuel plays a role. And my car has been running rich the last few months thanks to an old wideband at the dyno shop we tuned it at. Fixing that tomorrow.
Thinking Amsoil 0w-30 will go in next change. If I can find it under $7 a quart.
