It can vary between places, but normally when I think short and long blocks the difference is heads. Long blocks have heads and short blocks do not. Otherwise they can be almost identical. If you are going to get a long block just make sure you read carefully all that it comes with since the term can vary (should also do the same for short blocks).

Oh, so there is no length difference, it's a term referring to whether or not the product has heads or not, right?

Yes, some other small details but that is the important part of it. Texas Speed sells both long and short blocks should you can just look between the two to see what they make them different.

Shortblock would consist of the block, crank, rods and pistons (bearing and rings etc as well)

A longblock would consist of a shortblock with cylinder heads, camshaft and complete valvetrain. Rarely they might come with items like a crank pulley, timing set, water pump, valve covers, and other various items.

Short vs long has nothing to do with physical dimension.

Long block are 7 feet longer. They only fit if you take the passenger seat out.
