LG motorsports cams (great or over priced)

I just bought the G5X4 cam not too long ago and will be installing it this week. I was wondering if anybody else has one of LG motorsports cams in their cars. I know I paid more than any other cam I was looking at . Originally I was going to by the T-REX cam but wasn't quite sure if I wanted that power range it has.

Proven cams and worth it if you can live with secret specs.

Youll definitely make over 400 horse. But I would get rid of the MAF if I were you and use the stock unit.

I would even consider dropping the MAF entirely, and go with a speed density tune...

    +1.

i would also consider getting some katech rod bolts, as you will probably be shifting north of 7k to get the most out of that setup.

lg's cams perform, specs or no specs. that cam is smaller than the t-rex, but still very healthy for a 346 cid motor. i would say that it's comparable to speed inc's si7 cam...but lg applied their witchcraft, thus making it a very strong cam.

it has a powerband similar to the t-rex cam...so you didn't gain much with regard to that.

either tune will work fine...as long as the tuner can tune. LG cams have proven themselves time and time again, but they are pricey..its up to the consumer if they want to pay that much IMO.

I just finished the install of everything 3 days ago. That cam sounds pretty mean with open headers. For not being tuned yet it drives fairly decent even the idle is pretty good. Now I got to break in my new clutch and gears before I really pound on it.

My cam is in the car and it runs great. It only dynoed at 412rwhp. I was hoping for a little more. I kinda second guessed my choice and wish I would have went with the T-rex. It may have made a little more power but I was told it would have not made as good of a power curve as my G5x4 cam does.

412 rwhp seemed to be a little on low side to me.Anybody else think so.

whats are your other mods?? that will help us let you know if that is a good number or not.

personally i dont like the huge split cams. yeah you get a great hp number say 412 in your case, but the tq is like 360-370.

    i went w/ a 236/236 dyno nubers coming soon.

as stated above, take that slp maf off!! and put the stock back on.

also, port the stock TB and stock maf housings,

stupid ? but have you done the TB by pass? did you already have a tune b4 the cam? who tuned it after the cam?

I never had the car tuned before, just after I did all my mods. PcmForless did my tune.

After I had purchased the slp maf, and installed it, I find out that everyone thinks they're junk. I would like to know why everyone feels this way. The only thing I heard of so far is that they tend to lean the car out. I may be wrong though.

The stock MAF can be ported, and it's signals altered, to perform better than any aftermarket piece out there. I wouldn't call SLP's MAF junk, it's more of a waste of money (to the experienced tuner)...

Was the car tuned on a mail order PCM? What is the total timing in the car when running through the RPMs? my car right now dynoed a little lower than what I wanted and I have a G5X2, LT, LS6 intake, stock MAF, ported T/B and a 4" exhaust. I put down 373 through a 12 bolt with 17x11 wheels on there. I would say get a stock MAF and have a shop tune the car if PCMforless is a mail order company. I bet you can see more out of the car.

I am hoping to break the 400s with a X3 and fast 90/90 setup. Also when it gets retuned it will have been tuned by Speed Inc in Chicago.
