    Intake manifold fitment after decking heads

    Hi guys,

    I'm wondering how much you can deck LS1/LS6 heads and still expect the intake to mate properly on the contact surfaces. I have Patriot heads with 10.7:1 compression (so I'm told). I have my heads off right now and thought it might be a good idea to grab a few easy HP by decking the heads enough to make 11.3-11.5:1 compression.

    Three questions,

    (1)Will I have any trouble with the intake fitment after that much material is decked? (2) And How much HP can I expect to gain from this increase in compression? Does anyone recommend the Comp Cams valvetrain upgrades to roller rockers? I want to spin my motor reliably to 6,800-7,000 RPM

    My engine currently is a 346CI with Mahle 1CC pistons. The heads are Patriot Stage 2 CNC ported and the cam is a custom Comp Cams 595/605 lift 232/238 duration. Custom equal length 36" headers (1 5/8") long tubes, LS6 intake, etc. This engine currently makes 500HP @ the crank.

    jut went through this on a friend's car. heads were cut .030" and block was decked another .025". intake just barely fit. had to grind the notches for the intake bolt holes to get it to slide into place.
