I need to get 500 rwhp
alright i have a 02 ss and want 500 rwhp and be able to drive it around town. ive had someone tell me that a cam, port and polish the stock heads and a light weight rotating assembly, rods, pistons and a tune along with my long tube headers and cold air intake with ported throttle body and cutting the screen out of the maf sensor would do this, is this true,, and someone tell me the best cam ,, , i want power now , not top end power,,, any ideas.,, the light weight rotating assembly i heard is really awesome

Im sorry. some of it is just comical. 500 RWHP on your stock little 346 CI will be a radical big cammed, FULL bolt on, high RPM screamer.
Your asking for your cake, and you wanna eat it too. Your goals are to have low end power and have 500 RWHP on a 346. Those dont go hand and hand usually. Forced inductiong might be for you. A cammed/ GREAT ported head 346 is big money. And there is zero reason to put a forged rotating assembly in a NA 346.
Theand cutting the screen out of the maf sensor would do this
People go to bigger cubes for a reason. Big horsepower, and big torque.... Down low.
Your looking at at least 2600 bucks for a great fully assembled head
1300 for a decent cam package
Electric water pump probably 600-700
1200 for a FAST 92/92 (new)
500 for tune
600-700 in misc at least
Full exhuast, no BS cheapo x pipe's or anything. You need a great exhuast.
Light wieght rotating assembly? How about strong? If your going to light something up in that engine, stick to the valvetrain.
Add a few hundred more USD's to that list at least. Thats off the top of my head
In other words....
Pick a ET time in the 1/8, 1/4 mile you want and hit that instead.

if you're look for 500hp there are a few ways to go about it... full bolt ons with a large shot of N20... full bolt ons and supercharger/turbo... very large cam with a very good set of heads and bolt ons... etc etc...

yep pretty much, just depends on how you want to do it, all N/A is a bit pricey with the 346

I understand, and Im sorry if I came off as I was flaming you for it. My bad. Notice, thats not the only thing I said up there. Just one little line that caught your eye instead of any of the other help we gave you. Hopefully you can take this and start thinking which way you want to go.

You will have $5000+ in a n/a LS1 making 500rwhp. For that kind of money, I'd go with a low boost blower and matching cam to make a little less but realiable HP.

trash the ls1 and build a 400"+ stroker........ just be sure to leave the screen in the MAF
