    I can't decide on a Cam

I am trying to get everything together to rebuild the top end of my motor all at once, and I can't decide on what cam to use. I am going to be replacing the heads with the PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L Heads from Texas Speed. I am torn between 3 cams...

    228R - 228/228 .588/.588 112 LSA...1600-6300 RPM Powerband

    233/239 - 233/239, .595"/.603" 112 LSA...1900-6500 RPM Powerband

    Magic Stick 3 - 237/242 .603/.609" 112 LSA...2300-6800 RPM Powerband

I don't drive the car everyday, but I want to to be streetable (228R cam would be great for this), but I want to be able to sort-of dominate at the track (MS3 would do this well), so my thinking was to get the 233/239 Cam and have a "middle ground".

I was mostly leaning towards the MS3 cam because of the HP gains, but I am worried about loosing low end torque that is essential for the street (dig races on street tires). How much torque would I be looking at with the MS3? less than stock? or is it not a lot of torque compared to how much peak HP you gain?

Also, is the MS3 completely "unstreetable"? and by-the-way...what does "unstreetable" mean? Does it mean that the powerband is too high in the RPM range to start off from a red light?

I've always been a fan of the 233/239 cam, that with the heads will be a great combo for sure. If you were going cam only I'd say MS3. You won't notice any loss of low end torque, I went from a 224/224 to a 232/236 and never noticed any.

My tuner's not too fond of that one, but that's just his opinion. Why not get the 233/239 cam? Pretty much the same size, just slightly bigger. I've known a couple people with this cam and they ran real good at the track.

    Thats baby shit right there.

I think I'ma go with at least a MS3 or maybe the MS4. Depends on how much it'll hurt the fuel economy. After all, I'ma hafta drive it every day.
