    hydrallic lifters

on rebuilding ly ls1 i have noticed a little hole in the side of the standard hydralic lifter where the oil must go in.
on fitting these back into the block which way should the hole face, towards the pistons or towards the centre of the engine.
if i get it wrong the lifters may not fill.
if you can hepl it would be great as i want to get eninge back in this weekend

    cheers phil

This will probably will confuse you some, but I have read that it does not matter. Furthermore, upon my 6.0L (lq4) disassembly; the lifters were all differentsome faced the inward and some faced outward. The only thing that would help out alittle, is that the plastic holders be drilled. This mod keeps the tray from puddling oil in it.

It doesn't matter which way they face, the oil enters the bore where the lifters ride and pressurizes the indented area of the lifter, so the whole circumference of the lifter gets oil.
