the block can take some serious abuse ups of 1000+ internals are a different story..but if you beef up the internals and ect...but heat is the big problem that would cause the ls1 block's demise

A stock bottom-end will take 600rwhp no problem. The block and crank can take upwards of 900rwhp. The pistons and especially the ring-lands are the weakest link. Bear in mind that those numbers can change with high cylinder-pressures (nitrous) and high-rpm.

I read an article some time back of a guy who bought a 98 TA with 120,000 miles on it. threw a turbo on it and tried to blow the motor so he could throw in a brand new motor setup that he had built. The only thing internally he changed was the rockers. over 140 quarter mile passes and 14,000 miles later boosting between 12-15 PSI. He finally just gave up and did the motor swap cause he couldn't blow up that stock LS1 block...LOL. He was running low 10s, high 9s every pass.

So I am guessing it takes A LOT. or just some really bad luck. And with forged internals, hmmm give her all you can.

What Would Be A Good Set Up Internally For A Nasty Turbo? What Is The Best Displacement If I Am Going To Be Gutting Out The Block?

Are you using the factory LS1 block? What size turbo(s)? You could build a nice forged 347 for fairly cheap that would handle some serious HP. What kind of budget?

Check with the sponsors, but you could probably work something out for a couple grand...
