    No, I didn't say the LS1 handled 7K reliably, I said you had to dump a lot of money in the old 350's to get them to handle 7K reliably.

    You can get a stock LS1 to handle 6.6K reliably. Sorry for the confusion.

    I spun a bearing in my last motor. Actually, I let a friend drive my car through the 1/4 and he spun it for me. Missed 3rd gear and pegged the rev limiter.

    What I've learned from the experience:

    1) Check oil often (especially before you go to the track)
    2) Change oil often (3000 miles)
    3) Stay off rev limiter if possible
    4) Never let friends drive your car (he he)

    If you do a cam swap (or pull the engine for any reason), its worth extra $110 to get a blueprinted LS6 oil pump too. The stock one is junk.

    i kno fords ohc engines are designed for higher rpms because they cant produce anything at lower rpms as opposed to the traditional pushrod engine, at least thats how ive been told
