    I used the dowel technique last week and it worked pretty well. You may want to go with dowels slightly smaller than 5/16, as I had to oil them and work on them quite a bit to get them to go in. This is a safe and dirt cheap insurance policy for the lifters to stay up.

    just out of curiousity do the dowls go through the 2 treaded holes at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock around the cam? any pics?

    dont have any pics but the holes are under the end plate.
