As for transfer of parts the internals could be good they could not be there is no way to tell what is useable and what isnt with out ripping that thing apart. As for bolt ons they should be fine.

I wouldn't do a stock block. Go with a forged set up.

I dont know how true it is but An engine rebuilding service here in Texas told me the aluminum LS block can be welded if it the crack doesnt go to any sharp corners like around the oil pan or where it meets the heads. He was going to weld my block but the rod went thru the block where it meets the oil pan

I'd look for a new WS6. Or get them to give you one hell of a deal considering how much you may have to spend to have a running vehicle.

You can get a 383ci Stroker Short Block from Texas Speed for $3,719. Comes with Eagle Crank, Eagle Rods, Mahle Pistons. Very strong, reliable, and cost effective way to go. Most everything else you have should bolt right up. Get a new cam/lifter set along with a new timing chain, then bolt up your old stuff, be good to go.

How the hell do you crack an LS1 engine block anyway? That thing is reinforced out the ying-yang.

    OK CHANGED MY MIND.

I think it's a good deal with all the extras it's coming with. Just get a LS1 block to replace the cracked one. Hopefully that is the only thing that was damaged. You will have one hellamachine for a dirt cheap price.

heat. these aluminum blocks don't handle heat well at all-i warped some heads a while back when the engine peaked over 260 for more than a minute...i'm pretty sure the block took some damage too as the new heads have a tiny leak

you know what, that car is rediculous cheap-i think you should go for it. Guy sounds pretty straight up if he posted how the block cracked. Consider the following: a 98 trans am might retail for 11-13k. You get an 11k check from your bank, pay him 6700 and then mod with the rest of the cash. Really-think about it!
