How difficult to install Heads/Cam/Pushrods..
I have had my Heads for about 4 months now and have been waiting for money the army owes me to install them. Dont know when or if I will ever be getting this money now but I was qouted about 1650$ to install the heads and cam and tune it. I know The tune is roughly 500$ there so I would like to just try and save the money and just install it with a couple of friends. Does anyone have a site where I can read through some instructions or does anyone know how long it will take or how hard of a job it is.

difficulty of work is based of your mechanical aptitude.
Heads are easy to install if they are fully assembled, bolt-n-play heads! where you dont have to worry about valve lash, head height or length of pushrods.
its time consuming because you have to remove the headers and intake.
as far as the cam, yeah that can be tough cause you have to know how to degree a cam upon install.
Waterpump removal is needed to install a cam.
check out www.ls1tech.com
Alot of knowledge and knowledgable people there!

I would consider intalling Long tube headers easy by comparison.
You have to take the entire engine apart, then put it completely back together.
With me and a mechanic friend working on it, it took 20 hours in my garage. Without him knowing exactly what to do, I don't think I could've done it on my own. The hardest part IMO was figuring out exactly what bolt and wires go where when you REassemble the engine.

juiced, does your base have a Skills Development Center or Auto Hobby Shop? You shouldn't need a lift or anything like that, but they should have a good number of the tools you need, and the mechanics there will likely have some measure of advice to offer you too.
I doubt they'd be able to tune it, but if you have your own tuning software you can get a tune from PCMforless for a lot less.
