Help me clean some 243 heads

So I recently obtained some 243 heads from a member. They look great, they are complete except rockers and p.rods. They have 10K miles, a little carbon buildup, well its small enough to just put back on and not bother cleaning but my friends said to just clean em up. I used brake cleaner only chem I have didn't work, i used my fingernail to see how tough it is, its pretty tough. What do you guys recommend, seafoam, gasoline, wire brush? I heard about buying specific dealer chemicals, hmm. Will a wire brush scratch or a dremel wire brush? I know to be careful. Opinions.

Oh and I am confident on doing this by myself I heard take them to a shop they will soak em for me but meh...

try 3M scotchbrite pads. to clean the carbon build up in side the runners, face the runner up and fill it with solvent . use brake cleaner, and let it sit for a couple days and use a good tooth brush to clean around the valves. don't use a wire wheel.

The first thing you need to do is take the heads to a machine shop, and have the deck milled at least .005 to insure you have a good clean/flat surface. This needs to be done on any set of used heads that are being reinstalled. I've seen several guys go through nightmares not listening to this advice.

While the heads are getting milled, you can have them cleaned up.
