I wanted to see if you all could help me out with what cam i should go. Well I want a cam that you can hear the duration and have some good hp as well, I wanna go big or go home you know. I got a 02 ss nothing done to it but an hp tuning and an exhaust. Also if you could all help me with what am i gonna need to modify heads lifters rockers etc... And approximate cost
And what do you all think is the biggest cam i could get with my stock heads lifters rockers and such

you have the wrong mentality bud bigger doesnt always mean better. first off you need the supporting mods before you even think about a cam such as lt's, lid, valve springs and oil pump since your already in there. is the car a 6speed or auto? if auto you WILL need a convertor no doubt about that. you best bet will be to go with a moderate cam like mine a 228/228 .588/.588 on a 112 split. the 112 LSA is where your going to get all the sound out of it. dont go with a 111 or a 110 LSA unless you wanna have idling problems and for your tuner to hate you. Also you can get 243 6.0 heads from like a gto for dirt cheap ( only 200 around here) and those work alot better and are definately worth the extra time and few extra dollars. just dont go putting a massive cam in your ss because all its going to do is disappoint you trust me. others will say the same as well
not trying to be a dick just dont want you to make the same mistake many others have made
as far as cost i spent around 2000 but i did a few unnecessary extras but atleast plan on 1500 because its going to be the little things that get you.
for just a cam swap your going to need the cam (obviously), valve springs (mandatory), all fluids, timing cover gasket, w. pump gasket, walve cover gaskets, silicone and im sure there is more that im forgettingLast edited by WICKEDLS1; 07-23-2011 at 12:43 PM.

Having a small cam is like having a small dick, everytime you go to use it you wish it was bigger
