    Heads and intake

Just bought a 2000 Trans Am. I'm looking to put a set of ls6 heads and intake on it asap. My question is this. How much hp/tq will this give me to an otherwise stock engine? I'm not new to the car world, but am new to the ls1 realm so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, if I do change the heads/intake is there anything else that will have/need to be changed? I found a couple sets of ls6 heads on ebay for about 650$(yellow springs?). Does that seem reasonable? Thanks, Jason

I wouldn't waste the money on the ls6 head. It won't make that much of a difference. I would say do a cam before you do the heads. Something like a tr 224 on a 114 LSA so that smog is not an issue. The ls6 intake is a nice gain also.

Agree, if you are going to invest in heads, go better than the LS6's. The AFR 205's might be a good choice, and will work with up to .600 lift Cam without upgrading the springs. But at $2244 per pair, may be expensive for what you want.

LS6 intake, air lid, and free flowing filter are a must for upgrades. F.A.S.T. LSX intake is an even better choice for Air Flow.

Depending on how big a you want to go in the Cam, try & keep the Cam at or above 114LSA for emissions, driveability and idle issues. Plus you will need to have the PCM re-tuned to get the max benefit out of your mods.

Eventually there won't be anywhere you can hide from the emissions Nazis. So far they haven't hit East Central Florida! Yet

Some Dyno info from AFR on the 205's:

    Headers-Long Tube Style, 3" Flowmaster Mufflers. *
