    can u get the same horsepower out of ls1 ported heads as oppose to ls6 heads?

    if you dont port the ls6 head, youll make more power with a good port and polish job from an ls1 head.

    That goes without saying thou.... dont take your heads off and just go to grinding with a die grinder in the areas that "look" like they need it. You will more than likely screw it up. If you open you r heads up to much in the wrong places you lose air velocity at low speeds. Coming from a guy that has porting experience, i would let someone else do the port work ecspeccialy if it is aluminim heads.

    if the porting work is equal no..... LS6 heads make more power.

    but if the porting is equal...... if you mill more off the ls1 head you can make more....

    stage 2 ls1 with 11.5:1CR < stage 2 LS6 /w 10.5CR

    Milling the head changes the relationship between heads and or block and intake manifold. There are other ways of going about gaining more compression. buying heads with small volume chambers already casted or CNC machined in, or use domed pistons/. If you do mill the heads or raise any comprssion you have to reduce total ingition timing and use higher octane fuel.
