    head gaskets for my ls1

I just dropped off my 799 heads to a shop to do work on and was wondering what I should go to for head gaskets when the time comes to put them on. The guy at the shop said the stocks would work just fine but Idk I'm lost in this department any help for a newb? Thanks all.

Stockers work just fine but the aftermarket will help you spend more of your money. Are you going to use any power adders ?

what is the shop doing to the heads? Milling them for a flat surface or 0.030" or how much? It does matter!!

If the later you need to be concern with ptv (piston to valve clearance) Doing a minor mill to level the heads you'll be ok, it's when they start taking more material off that the gasket thickness & push rod length start coming into question.

They did a pressure test and then cleaned up no major mill work done just cleaned up the scratches. Was thinking of doing a port and polish job though. No power adders whatsoever I dislike super turbo and juiced engines.

You should be fine with the stock gaskets

Agree but I would still check to make sure the push rods are correct

Any time heads are milled, cam swap or rockers are swapped out your push rods should always be checked. It saves you from buying another set of rods. TS&P can get you close but they are still guessing unless they are there with your car.

Comp Cams Push rod checker. Each complete revolution is equal to .050 inch, cost $20

    Part #7702-1 I got mine from WS6store.

Aaah I see I believe that is an added option in the can package I was looking at for about 15 extra. I love bundle buys first mods I bought were a bundle.
